Returns & refunds
Your consumer guarantees
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
That means if your griptape arrives faulty, damaged, isn’t what was described or pictured, or doesn’t do what it should, contact us and we’ll fix it with a refund, replacement or repair. This applies to everything we sell, including sale and limited-drop items. We cover the cost of returning a faulty item.
How to make a claim
Email [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL] with your order number and a photo of the problem. We aim to reply within 2 business days. You don’t need the original packaging, and a bank statement or order email is fine as proof of purchase.
Change of mind
[CHANGE-OF-MIND POLICY]
Griptape that’s been applied
Griptape can’t be reused once it’s been stuck down. We can’t take back applied griptape just because you’ve changed your mind — but if it fails because of a fault (for example it peels, bubbles or the grit wears off far sooner than it reasonably should), that’s covered by your consumer guarantees above, applied or not.
Still not sorted?
If we can’t agree on a fix, you can contact Consumer Protection WA (or your state or territory’s fair trading agency) for free help.
Shipping
[YOUR SHIPPING POLICY — where you ship from, carriers, how long it takes.]
- Orders ship from Perth, Western Australia.
- The delivery cost is shown at checkout, before you pay. You won’t be charged anything that wasn’t shown to you first.
- Delivery times are estimates. If your order hasn’t turned up within a reasonable time, contact us and we’ll track it down, and replace or refund it if it’s lost in transit.
- International orders (if offered at checkout) may be charged import duties or taxes by the destination country. Those are set by that country, aren’t collected by us, and are paid by the receiver.
Terms of sale
Prices
All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD).
If we make an obvious pricing mistake on the site, we’ll tell you before your order is processed and you can choose to go ahead at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Orders and payment
When you place an order you’ll get an email confirming it. Payment is handled securely by our checkout provider; we never see or store your full card details. If something is sold out after you’ve paid, we’ll refund you in full.
Product photos
Designs are shown as closely as we can, but screens vary and colours may look slightly different in real life. Sheet sizes and fit notes are on each design page — check them against your deck before buying.
Using our griptape
Apply griptape to a clean, dry deck and trim it carefully with a sharp blade. Scooter riding has risks; always ride with suitable safety gear.
Our designs
All perthtape designs, artwork, photos and logos are owned by perthtape and protected by copyright. Buying griptape gives you the griptape — it doesn’t give you the right to copy, reprint or sell the designs.
Seen in Perth
Posts in Seen in Perth are shared with the permission of the people who made them and link back to the original on Instagram. If one of yours is up and you’d like it taken down, email us and we’ll remove it.
Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can’t be excluded. Apart from those rights, we’re not responsible for loss that wasn’t reasonably foreseeable.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia. If you live outside Australia, you keep any consumer rights the law of your country gives you.
Privacy policy
We collect as little as we can, use it only to run the shop and the email list, and never sell it.
What we collect and why
- Email list. If you subscribe, we keep your email address to send you news about drops. We only email you because you asked us to, and every email has an unsubscribe link that works straight away.
- Orders. When you buy, our checkout provider collects your name, delivery address, email, phone (if given) and payment details so we can take payment and ship your order. We keep order records for as long as tax law requires (generally 5 years).
- Messages. If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you.
- Your bag. What’s in your bag is saved only in your own browser (local storage) so it’s still there when you come back. It isn’t sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
We don’t use advertising trackers, analytics cookies or tracking pixels on this site.
Who else sees it
- Service providers who help us run the business: our website host, our email-list service, our checkout and payment provider, and delivery companies (who get your name and address to deliver your order).
- Google Fonts. The site’s fonts load from Google, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page opens. Google’s privacy policy applies to that.
- Instagram. Links to Instagram take you to Instagram, where Meta’s privacy policy applies.
Some of these providers store data overseas, including in the United States. We choose providers who protect personal information to a standard similar to Australian privacy law.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL]. We’ll reply within 30 days. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time.
Visitors in the EU or UK: we rely on your consent for the email list (you can withdraw it at any time) and on the need to fulfil your order for order details. You can also object to processing, ask to move your data, or complain to your local data protection authority.
Visitors in California and other US states: we don’t sell or share personal information for targeted advertising.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS and we use reputable providers. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Questions or complaints
Email [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL] and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
